Sports Specialism

Harris Academy Merton is committed to encouraging all students to participate in recreational and competitive sports.

Each term the faculties compete against one another to gain points for the Inter-Faculty Sports Cup.

December 2011 saw the first competition of this academic year. The battle began with the girls competing in basketball and the boys challenging one another in football. Running for five years, this was the most successful competition we have run yet with all teams, in all years being fielded; which resulted in fierce competition throughout.

Well done to all the students that competed as well as congratulations to the winning teams. Thank you also to the staff who managed the teams and who came to support their faculties:

Baird– Miss Parsons & Mrs Clarke

Napier - Mr Sheppard, Miss Singleton & Miss King

Newton - Miss Boyle & Mr Wilson

Seacole– Miss Michalska & Miss Brown

The next competition will be held at the end of the Spring term – the boys will be competing in basketball and the girls in netball.
