Sports Facilities for the Community
Located within Harris Academy Merton, our sports centre boasts excellent facilities, which are used by the school during school hours and are available for community use during evenings, weekends and school holidays.
Our facilities can be hired out on a casual basis, or as a block blocking.
Current programmes
Harris Hawks Basketball
This newly formed community basketball club is for boys and girls aged between 10 and 16. It is open to all children in the borough of Merton, regardless of which school you attend. The club currently train at Harris Academy Merton on Thursday evenings from 6.30pm-8.00pm.
Cost: £1.00 per session.
The Hawks will be looking to play friendly matches in the near future, with the plan to enter a local league.
Community Tennis
We have a Community Tennis Coach based at Harris Academy Merton, along with brand new, all weather hard surface tennis courts with floodlights. The tennis coach runs several group coaching sessions for children and adults, during evenings and weekends.
Tennis Programme
Mini Tennis (Children under 11): Saturday mornings 9.00am-12.00pm
Children aged 11-19: Thursday evenings 6.00pm-8pm (For all abilities)
Adult: Wednesday evenings 6.00pm-8.00pm (For all abilities)
Mini Tennis: Each Stage offers a gradual development process which uses a varied version of the game of Tennis by using different size courts, balls and racquets.
• Those 8 and under play Mini Red Tennis
• At 8-9 progress to Mini Orange Tennis.
• At 10 years old they progress to Mini Green Tennis
Private individual and group sessions can also be booked, at affordable prices.

Holiday Programme
During every school holiday (except Christmas) we run Multi Sports Camps at Harris Academy Merton.
The camps are for children aged between 4 and 14 years old and children are welcome from any school. All of our coaches are fully qualified, first aid trained and CRB checked.
Children will get to try out a number of different sports through out the week and at the end there will be prizes up for grabs!
Kickz Project and Aspire 2 Move
On Monday and Friday evenings we host the Kickz Project organised and run by Fulham Community Sports Trust. On Mondays for girls only, we host Aspire 2 Move.
Project objectives
Engage young people in a range of constructive activities which link to the Every Child Matters framework.
Break down barriers between the police and young people.
Reduce crime and anti social behaviour in the targeted neighbourhoods.
Increase the playing, coaching and officiating opportunities for participants.
Create routes into education, training and employment.
Encourage volunteering within projects and throughout the target neighbourhoods. Increase young people’s interest in and connections with the sport.

Facility Hire
Our sport facilities are available for public hire during evenings, weekends and school holidays. Our facilities can be hired either on a casual, pay and play basis or as a block blocking for the season. Block blockings consist of 10 consecutive bookings, and are exempt from VAT charges.



Floodlit Astro Turf
We have a full sized, floodlit sand based Astro turf available for football and hockey. The pitch can be hired as the whole pitch, in halves, and also in thirds, with nets dividing the sections. Hire of the pitches includes use of the goals, including two 11-a-side goals, six 5-a-side goals, or two hockey goals.

Sports Hall
Our facilities boost a fantastic sports hall, with excellent lighting and wooden sprung flooring with under floor heating.
The sports hall can be used for a number of different sports, including:
• Basketball (Full sized court, with 2 extending baskets, 4 side wall mounted baskets and an electronically controlled scoreboard.
• Netball
• Indoor hockey
• 5-a-side Football
• Futsal
• Volleyball (International size court)
• Cricket Nets (4 Brand new, top of the range cricket nets)
• Badminton (4 Courts)
• Table Tennis
• Martial Arts
• Trampolining
• and many more
The whole sports hall can be hired, and there is also the option to hire half of the hall, with a dividing net.
Equipment (i.e. rackets, balls etc) can be hired at an extra cost.

Floodlit Tennis & Netball Courts
We have recently completed construction of our outdoor tennis and netball courts and we now have 4 hard surface tennis courts and 2 netball courts.
All of our courts are floodlit and non slip, to allow for year round and evening training.
Our Community Tennis Coach runs individual and group coaching sessions on the courts. The tennis courts are available for club hire and also for casual users to come and have a friendly match.

Junior Cricket Pitch
We have a junior cricket pitch available for hire during the summer months, which has a newly laid square and brand new pavilion. The pitch is suitable for junior matches and training, and also non competitive adult use, for example corporate fun days.
Indoor Cricket Nets
We have four new cricket bays situated in our sports hall; these are available for hire on week day evenings, weekends and school holidays. This facility is ideal to accommodate practise sessions for both junior and adult clubs during the winter months. The bays can be hired in pairs or alternatively two can be used leaving half of the hall available for fielding drills.
