Well done to the Harris Merton Trampolining Team. Overall results for the Harris Federation Trampoloning Competition: 3rd place in Novice and 3rd place in Intermediate categories


Our Year 7 girls played a federation league game at home against Harris Academy Peckham last week. The girls played a fantastic game winning 7-0 with Tianna Reader scoring all 7 goals. Well played girls!


The Harris Merton Choir visited the Eltandia Hall care home for the elderly last week to sing a selection of Christmas songs and bring festive cheer. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas!


Harris Academy Merton Sixth Form students had the pleasure of delivering the school’s donations to the food bank at the New Horizon Centre Pollards Hill today. What a great way to reflect on the importance of community and generosity at this time of year.


Harris Merton hosted the Yr 8/9 girls borough basketball tournament yesterday playing against Wimbledon High School and Richards High School. We managed to win all our games to come first!! Player of the match was Kiyah Robertson (No 14)


Our award winners being presented with awards for their outstanding achievements or contribution to the Academy. Well done to all!


Harris Merton hosted a Year 7 girls football tournament in partnership with this week. Many local Harris Academies attended and HAM's A team placed second! Well done to all involved

PE and Sport

Years 7, 8 & 9

Students will be assessed on the practical skills they have demonstrated within a sport over a 6 week module.  Students are assessed against the practical grading criteria and given a score from 1-5 (1=lowest, 5 = highest).  Students will be assessed on the theoretical understanding through question and answer sessions throughout their lesson.  They will then complete a 10 mark multiple choice quiz on SMHW every half term.  At the end of every term students will complete a 10 mark multiple choice quiz as well as a long term answer and question session to test their knowledge, understanding and application.  This assessment will be graded on the 1-5 scale as outlined above.

Theory – One examination unit: (1 hour)

Unit R041 – Reducing the risk of Sports injuries (30GLH) 


Controlled Assessment: Three coursework units:

Unit R042 – Applying the principles of training (30GLH) 

Unit R043 – The body’s response to physical activity (30GLH) 

Unit R044 – Sports Psychology (30GLH) 

Students will be assessed in class through Q&A, reading their coursework and giving instant verbal feedback.  Electronically written feedback will be given on each coursework assignment for students to improve their work.  Formal assessment will be through coursework tasks within each coursework unit and examination questions and mock exams within the examination unit.

Students will be assessed within examination units by their homework, exam question practice and mock exam results.

Students will be assessed when studying coursework by instant verbal feedback in lessons and electronically written feedback on their assignments for the students to be able to improve their work. Each coursework assignment is graded against the assignment criteria as set out by the exam board.
