Religion and Art Year 7

Students focused on artistic interpretations of religious stories.

They looked at Islamic geometric art, representations of Ganesha in Hindu art and the depiction of Jesus in Christian renaissance artwork. They then used those images to guide us when making our own religious artwork.

Enterprise Year 9

Students worked to create and develop a product to sell within the school. They explored the key elements of running a small business while linking their learning to the success of real entrepreneurs featured on the popular tv show, Dragon’s Den.

  • Week1: focused on idea generation, brainstorming creative and practical business concepts.

  • Week 2: focused on operations, where they identified suitable materials and potential suppliers for their products.

  • Week 3: the focus shifted to marketing, as students designed logos and planned effective communication strategies to promote their products.

  • Week 4: explored finance by calculating costs and considering profit margins.
  • Week 5: dedicated to rehearsing their pitches, developing persuasive presentations to showcase their enterprise ideas.

  • Week 6: students presented their finished business concepts in a Dragon’s Den-style session to their peers.

By the end of the project, students had applied their understanding of ideas, operations, finance, and marketing to create a product to sell in the school. These products included pencil cases, t-shirts, bags and cakes.
