Exploring Careers at Harris Academy Merton
Careers Week was an exciting and inspiring experience for students across the school. The Department for Work and Pensions team visited to interview Year 10 students about career pathways linked to their areas of interest, giving them valuable insight into real-world employment opportunities.
Guest Speakers and Industry Insights
Students also benefited from a visit by JJ Rhatigan, who delivered an engaging assembly and met with students to explore careers within the construction industry, helping them understand routes into the sector and the skills required.
Skills-Based Learning and Assemblies
Students took part in Skills based interviews and assemblies, providing first-hand information about further education options and next steps after school. Across subjects, teachers supported careers learning through themed lessons, linking curriculum content to future job opportunities.
Raising Awareness and Exploring Options
Students in Key Stage 3 were supported through industry-focused videos, helping to raise awareness of a wide range of careers from an early age. This initiative aims to provide students with a broad understanding of the diverse career paths available to them.
Preparing for the Future
Overall, Careers Week was a great success, offering students practical guidance, inspiration, and a clearer vision for their futures. At Harris Academy Merton, we are committed to providing our students with the support and resources they need to succeed in their chosen careers.
