Amazon's Choice Award Winner 2026
Student Shines in National Storytelling Week Competition!
We are thrilled to share the fantastic news that one of our students, Zahra, has won the Amazon's Choice Award in the National Storytelling Week competition. This achievement is a testament to her creativity, talent, and dedication to storytelling.
Award-Winning Achievement
Zahra's success is all the more impressive as she was one of only five Key Stage 3 students from across the country to enter the competition and win a prize. Her hard work and passion for storytelling have paid off, and we couldn't be prouder of her.
Amazon Vouchers for the School
As part of Zahra's award, Harris Academy Merton has been gifted £1000 in Amazon vouchers. We will use these vouchers to support and enhance our literacy and creative writing resources, benefiting all our students.
Celebrating Success
We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to Zahra on her outstanding achievement. Her success is a shining example of the talent and potential that exists within our school community. We look forward to celebrating many more successes in the years to come.
Zahra's Winning Entry
Below is Zahra's winning entry:
The world keeps spinning, faster still
Neon lights replace the hill
Steel and glass invade the sky
While ancient forests learn to die
Engines roar where birds once sang
Progress praised but at what chang?
Time is traded, peace is sold
For things we'll won't believe their old
We worship speed, we glorify more
Concrete spread from shore to shore
Screens dictate the way we feel
Pixels loud yet nothing real
We scroll past sunsets, miss the rain
Down in thoughts with endless gain
In racing forward, blind old proud
We lose ourselves within the crowd
But progress isn't just a race
Or domination over space
The pace is ours and we decide
How fast to move and what to led slide
