Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award Expedition Success

On Tuesday 7th and Wednesday 8th July, our Duke of Edinburgh's Award participants completed their expedition in the beautiful Surrey Hills, demonstrating resilience, teamwork and determination throughout the two-day challenge.

Challenging yet Rewarding

The expedition began with a long hike through the wooded landscapes of the Surrey Hills. Students navigated independently in their groups, working together to follow their planned routes. While there were a few wrong turns along the way, the groups showed excellent problem-solving skills and perseverance, supporting one another as they got back on track and continued their journey.

Campsite Challenges

After a challenging first day, students arrived at their campsite where they worked collaboratively to pitch their tents and prepare their evening meal using Trangia stoves. It was fantastic to see students taking responsibility, sharing tasks and developing their independence in the outdoors.

Final Day Success

On the second day, the route took students through more open agricultural landscapes as they made their way towards the picturesque village of Shere. Once again, students rose to the challenge, demonstrating strong navigation skills, teamwork and a positive attitude throughout the walk.

Achievement Milestone

The expedition marks a significant milestone in the students' Duke of Edinburgh's Award journey. In addition to completing their expedition section, students have been highly organised with their programme paperwork, with the vast majority having already completed their Physical, Volunteering and Skills sections.

Proud of Our Students

We are incredibly proud of the commitment and enthusiasm shown by all participants. Students will receive their Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze Award badges and certificates during our Autumn Term Celebration Assembly, where their achievements will be formally recognised by the school community.
