Assessment
Students will be assessed on the practical skills they demonstrate within 7 sports over a 5–6 week module, delivered through an interleaving timetable across the year. Assessment follows the practical grading criteria, with students awarded a score from 1–5 (1 = lowest, 5 = highest) for each sport.
The curriculum is structured around the hand, head, heart model, allowing students to develop physical competence (hand), theoretical understanding (head), and personal qualities such as effort, resilience, and teamwork (heart). Head (Theoretical understanding) is assessed through ongoing questioning, discussion, and application within lessons. The Hand practical scores for each sport are combined together for each sport to give an average grade.
