Little ARK Charity Face Masks
One of the factors involved in getting used to the ‘new normal’ is the wearing of face coverings on public transport and in communal areas of the Academy. As with many new initiatives, it takes a while to acclimatise and although one should be brought from home each day, the hamboning at the gate followed by a gasp and a morning chorus of “oh no, I don’t have a mask!” was anticipated. Aware that some students may not have access to a mask for each day for a variety of reasons, Ms Meloy in the PE Department introduced HAM to Syebvonne Nguyen at The Little A.R.K CIC (Acts of Random Kindness), who provided us with 470 reusable face masks to keep the students safe at the Academy and during their daily commute. These supplemented the ones provided by the Academy and the Harris Federation.
The Little A.R.K CIC is a community led project who made face coverings during lockdown, the proceeds of the sale of which were received by NHS-based charities. They are aiming to replicate this effort in Merton and surrounding areas.
Fundraising is always challenging, and never more so than during these unprecedented times, so they are always grateful for support via their GoFundMe page. More information about The Little ARK can be found on their Facebook page - https://www.facebook.com/thelittleark20/ or by emailing Ms Nguyen at thelitteARK20@gmail.com.
